Discover the iconic Morukuru Family De Hoop within one of South Africa’s stunning nature reserves
The 36,000-ha De Hoop Nature Reserve offers the perfect location for your South African escape, with its 51km of pristine white beaches and dunes lapped by the warm Indian Ocean, as well as limestone cliffs, rock pools, wetlands and coastal fynbos. The reserve is home to almost 90 mammal species such as the mountain zebra, eland, bontebok, baboon and even an occasional leopard, while bird lovers are guaranteed to be dazzled by 260 species of birds, yet what makes Ocean House truly unique is the bird’s eye view it offers of the continent’s greatest whale nursery. Visitors can witness Southern Right whales migrate to the marine protected shallow coastal basins off the Overberg Coast for the calving and nursing season from mid-July to November, while other whales, dolphins and seals can also be frequently spotted.
Ocean House is the newest member of the ‘Morukuru Family’ that allows discerning travellers to experience one of Africa’s most beautiful coastal reserves while residing in a truly stunning yet private oceanfront home that is large enough to accommodate a group of friends or a family with children. Even though Ocean House was built to have a minimal environmental and visual impact; while being off the grid this spectacular family villa is a stunning example of architectural brilliance combining sophistication and seamless, harmonious integration within the surrounding fynbos dunes.
Morukuru Beach Lodge consists of 4 Ocean View Suites and 1 Honeymoon Suite. All suites are equally spacious (90 m2 each) and comfortably furnished. The 4 Ocean View Suites offer views of the Indian Ocean and the surrounding landscape, whereas the Honeymoon Suite offers a view of the Fynbos dune landscape and partial sea view, as well as a large private deck with outside bathtub and sun loungers. Each of the suites is located on the ground floor and features a large en-suite bathroom with walk-in rain shower and separate bath, separate toilet as well as double vanity units
