The Resort at Paws Up

Paws Up, a wonderful wilderness resort in Montana

Big Sky Country is the description most commonly used to describe Montana. Even if you’ve never been there, you’ll be familiar with the Montana of the big and small screens. The wide-open spaces, the mountains, the horses, the cowboys, and the feeling that you’re a very small speck in a very large landscape. The Resort at Paws Up is located 35 minutes from Missoula in a small town called Greenough and is a working ranch on 37,000 acres of pure Montana magic. Resort staff will collect you from the airport and transport you to what is known as ‘The Last Best Place™’. Montana is a perfect place for anyone who loves delineated seasons. Each has its own beauty and provides an opportunity for a diverse range of activities. And activities are what you get at Paws Up. While you have a perfect place to relax it’s a bit of a waste if you don’t partake of the extensive range of things to do which are on offer.

You can spend your entire holiday at The Saddle Club, Paws Up’s equestrian center. Whether you’re a novice or an expert, if you’re there for the horses you’ll find your niche. The huge equestrian center also caters to corporate events and parties or any group function. If you’ve ever fancied yourself as a ranch hand you can ride out on a cattle drive with the ranch staff, gathering up the cattle and trailing them back to home pasture. If, on the other hand, you see yourself in a horse-drawn carriage then you can do that too, whether it’s admiring the scenery or travelling out to the banks of the Blackfoot River where you can enjoy an authentic chuckwagon dinner. Don’t underestimate the sheer vastness of the Montana wilderness you’ve found yourself in. Apart from the 37, 000 acres of Paws Up, the Bob Marshall Wilderness is nearby and covers 1.5m acres. The activities are age-appropriate (you can choose by age for your children) and vary from adrenalin-fuelled ATV tours, rafting, paintball, kayaking and rappelling to more moderate pursuits such as swimming, hiking, clay shooting and fly fishing,
