Bisate Lodge

Discover one of Africas richest biodiversity hotspots up close

The latest addition to the Wilderness Safaris portfolio, Bisate Lodge sits in the remains of a volcanic cone, looking out towards the peaks of the Volcanoes National Park. Not only is this region home to the critically endangered mountain gorilla but it is also one of Africa’s richest biodiversity hotspots with a high number of endemic birds and mammals. With just six domed, thatched forest villas tucked into the verdant greenery, Bistate Lodge is all about privacy and space. Each villa features a living room, bedroom and bathroom that are warmed by a central fireplace and decorated with bold prints and ethnic fabrics, and a breezy deck with views of brooding Mount Bisoke.

Its location close to the park headquarters means guests can join expeditions to track habituated gorillas daily, hike out in search of the endangered golden monkey, visit local villages and assist with the lodge’s reforestation and conservation efforts.
