Slow down and distance yourself from the stress of modernity at Casa Galavanta
Something of a fairy-tale destination, Casa Galavanta is a house suspended in the clouds, many, many miles from civilisation. 1500 metres above sea level, in the midst of dense rainforest and coffee fields, staying at this timber lodge is all about disconnecting from modern life – there’s no WiFi and barely any cell phone reception – and reconnecting with nature.
Consisting of three double rooms, a studio, an inviting lounge, and open kitchen, and verandas with views across the mountain ridges, this is your home from home, staffed by a chef, housekeeper, and naturalist guide.
Trek to secret swimming holes and jungle waterfalls, help with the coffee harvest and learn how it is processed, and meet a Wiwa tribe, whose way of life has not changed for centuries. In the afternoons, laze in a hammock and watch the clouds roll, in enveloping you in mist, then magically clear to reveal a sensational sunset.
