Cayo Espanto

Cayo Espanto, a dream made real in the Tropics of Belize

The country of Belize is small and beautiful, a hidden corner of the world. In the northern end of the country, there are several sandy peninsulas that trail into the Caribbean Sea, where the Belizean people make a tidy living hosting visitors to their tropical beaches. There, about two miles off the coast lies the little island of Cayo Espanto, Spirit Island. This is the location of one of the world’s great luxury resorts; a private island where you can rest and relax in complete comfort, attended to by an expert staff, and warmed in the Caribbean sun. Cayo Epanto is a deluxe island estate, about two miles away from the picturesque town of San Pedro, and only twenty or so miles from the nation’s largest city town, Belize City. The island is an oval only four acres in size, with a central site for the attentive staff, who will easily be able to provide bespoke experiences of the area whenever you ask.

The Cayo Espanto estates feature just seven villas, spread at equal distances along the shores of the island, to allow a maximum of privacy for visitors. Each villa features luxurious furnishings, along with its own plunge pool and dock. At the eastern end of the island, the Casa Ventanas is an overwater structure, situated at the end of a dock 150 feet from land, in the blue Caribbean shallows, and you can spend hours watching the view of the seafloor below. There are a pair of two-bedroom villas, the Casas Estrella and Aurora, and four one-bedrooms, the Casas Olita, Brisa, Manana, and Solana. The resort is glad to provide spa services on a bespoke basis, and one writer recommends that you test the medium pressures carefully before going to “deep massage!”
