Taupo Offers Trout and Tradition at the Huka Lodge
At Huka Lodge, hospitality is taken very seriously. As far back as its original 1920’s inception, when the Lodge was little more than a series of canvas tents used by fisherman, Huka Lodge has drawn some of the largest names in the world. While visiting the Taupo region of New Zealand, a few nights at Huka Lodge will allow you to walk the same paths as The Queen Mother and fish in the same streams as Charles Lindbergh once did. Rich in history, Huka Lodge is equally as stunning with a prominent setting on the Waikato River just upstream from the Huka Falls.
Guests may choose between 19 separate Lodge Suites, the palatial Owner’s Cottage, or famous Alan Pye Cottage for their stay in paradise. Each is decorated with a unique eye for detail, a detail that reflects the natural beauty of Taupo. The Alan Pye Cottage, named for the original visionary of Huka Lodge, is completed in an Arts and Crafts motif incorporating distinct details reminiscent of Alan’s extraordinary imagination and love of the land. The Owner’s Cottage is a four-bedroom retreat offering the utmost in privacy for VIP guests.
Huka Lodge offers many choices for casual and fine dining in and around the grounds of the property. During the Autumn and Winter months, guests may partake of the three-course lunch at Huka Lodge, a casual affair that is anything but ordinary. Classic breakfasts and gourmet dinners are available year-round. For added romance and seclusion, have a private candlelight dinner in one of 20 different and stunning areas of the Lodge, including the library, wine cellar, and outdoor fireplace venues.
