Killiehuntly Farmhouse & Cottage, a unique private hideaway, where Scandinavian design meets Scottish cordiality
Killiehuntly Farmhouse & Cottage brings a new concept of Scottish Highland adventures to the table: a stylish private hideaway set in 4,000 acres of farmland, where one can relax in total comfort, surrounded by unadulterated nature. Acquired by a Danish couple in 2010, the 17th-century farmhouse and adjacent cottage and hayloft have been sensitively restored, blending contemporary Scandinavian aesthetics and Scottish craftsmanship. Sturdy stone walls and bare wood floors are softened with sheepskin rugs and billowing linen drapes, creating cosy-yet-cool spaces in which to unwind.
Perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors, one can start the day with a brisk walk across heather-covered hills before joining a guided hunting or fishing expedition. Thrill-seekers may prefer to jump into the frigid waters of the Trombie River or career downhill on fat-tyred mountain bikes.
Whatever one’s preference, at the end of the day crackling fires, warming whiskies and three-course dinners prepared with seasonal, home-grown ingredients await back at base.
