Marataba Mountain Lodge

Marataba Mountain Lodge is aimed at the more adventurous explorers

Marataba Mountain Lodge is aimed at the more adventurous explorers, offering unequalled high impact walking trails in the spectacularly beautiful Marataba Reserve, a 23,000 ha private concession adjoined to the vast, malaria-free Marakele National Park in South Africa’s Limpopo Province. Perched on the side of a mountain, with views all the way into Waterfall Valley, Marataba Trails Lodge is utterly remote in a wilderness world of its own. This is where rich red mountain rock bears down on the verdant plains at its feet, where contrasting mountain landscapes, grass-clad hills, and deep valley make for the most stunning amazing environment. Guests can expect to see all of the large game species from elephant and rhino to the big cats, as well as an amazing variety of birds – including the largest colony of endangered Cape vultures in the world, with more than 800 breeding pairs – during the different trail walks that are being offered.

Even though the lodge was built using sound ecological methods and principles, using solar power to only supply energy to selected equipment such as cameras, iPads and phones, your ‘going back to nature adventure’ will however not be of the Spartan-type. This is the place for the person who is after a ‘Digital Detox’, wanting to disconnect completely – from Wi-Fi and mobile phones – yet in style without compromising on the creature comforts!  Marataba Trails Lodge counts five luxurious and spacious Eco-Suites with king-sized or twin beds, each with a private viewing deck, a fireplace, and en-suite bathroom with rain dance shower, freestanding vanity, a safe and a mini viewing deck.
