Impressive design tented suites in the large private wildlife reserve
Mwiba Lodge, the latest addition to the Legendary Expeditions portfolio, recreates the glamour of the luxurious camping safaris of yesteryear, with a generous added dose of contemporary luxe, in the midst of the Tanzanian wilderness. Ten sumptuous tented suites, dotted among giant boulders and acacias, overlook a rocky gorge on the Arugusinyai River. Each artfully blends traditional design elements and sophisticated furnishings – deep soaking tubs are shrouded in muslin drapes, creamy sofas sit next to hand-carved wooden tables, luxurious beds stand beside animal skin rugs – and opens onto a private hardwood deck.
Guests have unlimited, unscheduled access to the lodge’s well over 70,000 hectares private wildlife reserve, with a vehicle and guide provided for every solo traveller, couple, or group. Days may be spent visiting tribal villages, spotting a cheetah or watching the wildebeest calving, and evenings are equally memorable, with sundowners served around campfires and gourmet cuisine eaten communally or in the privacy of one’s suite.
